An Explanation Of Hosting

What is hosting? When you save a file, for example a Word file onto your computer, it is stored on the Hard Drive.

A website is made up of lots of different files, and in order for them to be accessible by anyone in the world, the website files have to be stored on a hard drive of a robust computer with a fast internet connection.

When people use the word hosting, they are talking about file storage space on a computer often referred to as a web server. These servers can dish out the files of a website very quickly to lots of different people at once.
